BANDAR LAMPUNG, KOMPAS – In the past 10 years, many have viewed Lampung province as an emerging priority tourist destination. Its relative proximity to the nation’s capital, only 30 minutes away by plane, makes tourist attractions in Lampung an alternative choice for residents Greater Jakarta.

However, Kompas’s observations of these tourist sites last week, including Pahawang Island in Pesawaran regency, the Way Kambas National Park elephant training center in East Lampung and Tanjung Setia Beach in Pesisir Barat regency, showed that the government had yet to develop them properly. Road access to these locations were lacking and, considering that the elephant is the province’s icon, it was rather difficult to find elephant-themed souvenirs.
