MD3 Law Sets Seats

We hope that the eight MPR leaders will bring benefits to many people, and not simply in the parties’ representation. The position and role of the MPR has been very limited since the amendment to the 1945 Constitution.

The Law on the People\'s Consultative Assembly (MPR), the House of Representatives (DPR), Regional Representatives Council (DPD) and Provincial/City Legislative Councils (DPRD) – the MD3 Law – has been implemented in the end by expanding the MPR leadership from five to eight people.

One seat was also added to the House leadership. Ahmad Basarah of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P), Muhaimin Iskandar of the National Awakening Party (PKB) and Ahmad Muzani of Gerindra were installed on Monday, March 26, 2018, as the three new deputy speakers of the MPR. Earlier, the House leadership also approved Utut Adianto from the PDI-P faction as the new DPR deputy speaker.
