JAKARTA, KOMPAS — The role of women is very big in the development of a nation. Strengthening a country can only be done by ensuring the empowerment of women. Indonesia has many examples of women who have had important roles in the public sphere, be it in the kingdom era, pre-independence or after independence.

“All those achievements could be attributed to strong women. Without strong and tough women, children would be unable to grow, unable to study. This is a lesson for all world leaders,” Great Indonesia Movement (Gerindra) Party chairman Prabowo Subianto said during the opening of a global gathering forum titled “Women: Torch Holder and Pillar of Hope to Attain Global Goal 2030” in Jakarta on Thursday (22/3).
