Taiwan-flag vessel Win Long is escorted by customs and excise patrol boats from the Philips Straits near Nipah Island to Ketapang Port, Karimun in Riau Islands, on Friday (23/2). Police and customs and excise personnel found drugs inside the vessel.

Ato, 34, had just returned home from visiting a sick friend when his boss called him on Monday (19/2/2018) at 6:30 p.m. He was told to prepare a boat and a crew in one hour. Ato, who was on leave after a four-week operation at sea, immediately made the preparations.

The patrol officer at Batamโ€™s Type B Customs Office in the Riau Islands immediately contacted his friends, including Adi, 27, who was enjoying a cup of coffee at a coffee shop. At 8 p.m., the boat and the crew were ready to go. Half an hour later, after a short briefing and prayer, the team sailed out on one ship and two speed boats.
