A member of the clean-up crew stands amidst litter on January 1, 2018 at the Non-Bloc Countries Friendship Monument of Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII). Around 96,000 people celebrated the turn of the year at TMII, a significant increase compared to last year’s figure of around 61,000 people.

The festive celebration at Indonesian Miniature Park (TMII) turned into silence on Monday (1/1) at 1:30 a.m. No more music, trumpets or fireworks could be heard. All that remained of the party were piles of garbage.

As one by one visitors left the scene to go to their beds, Slamet, 35, and Acim, 50, rushed to the location. They grabbed a broomstick and dustbin.
