Novanto Loses His Power

Setya Novanto appears as a defendant at the first hearing of his trial on Wednesday (13/12) in the e-ID corruption case at the Jakarta Corruption Court.
JAKARTA, KOMPAS – The Jakarta Corruption Court opened on Wednesday (13/12) the trial of former House of Representatives (DPR) speaker Setya Novanto. The trial’s opening will reportedly invalidate Novanto’s pretrial motion challenging his renaming as a graft suspect. At the same time, Novanto has also lost his position as the Golkar Party general chairman.
A plenary session of the Golkar Central Board of Executives (DPP) that was held last night has decided that the party’s extraordinary national meeting (Munaslub) would be held on Dec. 19-20.
