Toll Hike Proposed for 13 Roads

Congestion is seen on both sides of the Jakarta-Cikampek toll road in West Bekasi, West Java, on Wednesday (1/11). Between 4,000 and 5,000 private cars traverse the route between Bekasi and Jakarta every day during peak hours.

JAKARTA, KOMPAS – A fee hike has been scheduled for 13 toll roads this month. Despite the fee hike in line with inflation rate is provided for by law, the government requested that toll road services be improved beforehand.

In accordance with Law No. 38/2004 on Roads, the Toll Road Regulatory Agency (BPJT) evaluates and adjusts toll road rates every two years by. The new fees are calculated by adding 1 percent of the current toll and the current inflation rate to the current toll, with the Public Works and Public Housing Ministry setting the fee adjustment.
