People looking at the latest information on Mount Agung displayed at the Mt. Agung observation post in Rendang district, Karangasem, Bali, on Oct. 10. As of this moment, the alert status of Mt. Agung is still high.

KARANGASEM, KOMPAS – The alert status of Mount Agung in Karangasem regency, Bali, was removed on Thursday. The local administration, along with the National Disaster Mitigation Agency and the Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazards Mitigation (CVGHM), has yet to decide whether or not there will be an extension of the status.

They still need to evaluate whether to extend Mt. Agung’s alert status or whether to lower it from Warning (level IV) to Watch (level III). As of Wednesday, the status of Mt. Agung was still at level IV with a danger zone of 9 kilometers from the crater of the mountain and an expansion of 12 kilometers. The development of Mt. Agung’s activity has been continually evaluated in order to come up with the right decision.
