Evacuees of the Mount Agung disaster are seen in an evacuation center set up at the Sweacapura sports stadium in Klungkung, Bali, on Friday (6/10). The evacuation centers are spread across a wide area, making it difficult for evacuee data to be collected and logistics to be distributed.

It is quiet. Only the faint sounds of a little child’s coughing and crying were heard on Wednesday night (11/10) at the Swecapura Sports Hall in Klungkung, Bali. The clock’s hands showed it was 11:00 p.m. Eastern Indonesia Time. However, the night was not at peace. Far from the glittering lights of the city, the flame of hope was trying to be lit.

That night should have been special for I Made Pageh (17). More than three weeks after he evacuated his house, it was the first time he had ever slept on a soft mattress, and not on a thin mat on the cold floor like he did at home.
