Officials from the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) and volunteers prepare a siren as an early warning device against the threat of a Mount Agung eruption in Kubu village, Kubu district, Karangasem regency, Bali, Wednesday (27/9). The installation of sirens needs to be explained to the residents so that they understand the disaster situation they are facing.

Our concern for others is being tested as the possibility of Mt. Agungโ€™s eruption hangs over Bali. We hope that all our hard work and goodwill will not betray us in the end.

A truck owned by the East Java Emergency Response (Tagana) joint team roared as it climbed a road leading to Duda village around noon on Tuesday (3/10/2017). Located 17 kilometers from the center of Baliโ€™s Karangasem regency, the road was steep and winding. The skills of the truck driver, Fachrul Kurnia, 34, were tested as he switched gears, braked and depressed the clutch pedal to maintain constant speed.
