The Demak regency administration in Central Java is stepping up efforts to make its residents more energy resilient. Cattle farmer Kaswi, 42, who tends to 18 cows, has received assistance in the form of a cow dung processing reactor to make composts for the production of gas. Kaswi demonstrates how to process cow dung into biogas energy on Saturday (27/5). The gas being produced is capable of lighting three major lamps and two gas stoves for a duration of 10 hours.

Taslimah, 36, a resident of Cabean Kidul hamlet, Sidorejo village, Demak, Central Java, proudly shows off a blue flame in her simple stove in her kitchen. Since utilizing biogas made from the processing of cow dung, expenses used to buy LPG can be trimmed and diverted for other needs. She is even able to save.

"For three months I have utilized biogas to cook and for lights during the night," said Taslimah, Saturday (27/5) afternoon.
