Police Arrest Suspects in Statutory Rape Case

MAKASSAR, KOMPAS – The police precinct in Enrekang, South Sulawesi, on early Friday (17/3/2017) arrested two men for allegedly raping a female high school student. The two men were known to have moved between regencies with the victim for the past week in order to evade a police hunt.

The two suspects were identified as Wi, 36, and La, 35. The victim, Ha, 16, is a high school student in Enrekang. Wi reportedly picked Ha up at a house belonging to Ha’s uncle in Enrekang on March 8. Ha was reportedly brought to East Luwu regency at the border of South Sulawesi and Central Sulawesi.

Afterwards, Ha was brought to Tana Toraja regency and then back to Enrekang on Wednesday (15/3). While on the run, Wi and La were known to have assaulted Ha.
