Damned if You Do, Damned if You Don’t

Srunen City in Glagaharjo, Cangkringan district, Sleman, Yogyakarta, proves itself to be able to rebuild the hamlet after being devastated by the volcanic eruption from Mount Merapi in 2010.

Seven years have gone past since Mt. Merapi, whose area is spread over three regions, namely Sleman regency in Yogyakarta and Boyolali and Magelang regencies in Central Java, erupted. The disaster in 2010 left behind stories of horror and sorrow.

The tragedy took more than 200 lives and resulted in around 700 more people suffering from serious burn injuries. The terror is still fresh in locals’ minds.
